My Dear Friends,
Over the past few months, I have been working behind the scenes to revamp and refresh The Bloom by keeping up with social media trends, adapting to what you enjoy reading, and staying connected to our local community. I am committed to learning more about what you like most about The Bloom. And here is what I have learned so far:
You love local restaurant reviews a lot! That seems to be a constant since The Bloom’s inception. You also enjoy joining me on adventures exploring our neighboring counties and all their diversions. You seem to like my random reflective pieces. You very much appreciate Kathleen Scavone’s science and nature articles.
And here is one thing you most recently responded to on social media: the late Gene Paleno’s “Lake County History” column. It is clear we still share tremendous pride in being Lakecountians. I hope to keep that pride at the center of The Bloom and its identity always.
That said, I have also noticed you are not as crazy about local press releases–or what I now call community news–as much as you are about other things The Bloom offers. So that got me thinking again, and I believe I have found a solution: Starting this week, you might see fewer press releases in The Bloom’s weekly newsletter than you have in the past. You may also start to see community news that reaches beyond Lake County. Overall, I intend to make the arts more visible, since that seems to interest you the most.
Now, if you enjoy all the community news The Bloom publishes, don’t worry. The Bloom intends to continue to post local press releases just as it always has, and you can access all of it when you click on the “Read More Community News” button before the Lake County History column in this newsletter.
In the meantime, be sure to follow The Bloom on social media for short videos and Bloom thoughts that you won’t see on our website and in this newsletter. You can currently follow The Bloom on Facebook and Instagram.
And a special thank you to our monthly donors. I look forward to sharing more meals with you, as I did this week with Henry and Gae. Every few months, I will draw another name from my monthly donors list. It’s never too late to become a monthly contributor for your chance at a free meal with The Bloom!
In the meantime, thank you for supporting The Bloom by being a faithful Bloom subscriber. And, last but not least, The Bloom is working on adding some new columns, so stay tuned!
Cheers!!!
