C O L L I S I O N

When love arrives
the translucent rain gains form
and light gets trapped in the ice,
this love does not give heat
but color, jealous as the sky
that gifts lightning bolts to the earth —
that’s what electricity is like,
turning over between existence
and shadow, scandal and seed.

When love comes,
it breaks the earth with its head
of flowers, grows drinking water
until its roots tap against
its neighbors, every tree speaks
with every other tree, under our feet —
so let’s walk, you and I,
let’s listen to the gossip.

A T O P A R

Cuando viene el amor
la lluvia transluciente gana forma
y la luz se atrapa en el hielo,
este amor no se da calor
pero color, celoso como el cielo
que regala relámpagos a la tierra —
así es la electricidad,
dando vuelta entre existencia
y sombra, escándalo y semilla.

Cuando viene el amor,
rompe la tierra con su cabello
de flores, crece tomando agua
hasta que sus raíces se topan
sus vecinos, cada árbol habla
con cada otro, bajo nuestros pies —
entonces caminamos, tú y yo,
escuchamos al chisme.
