As the Wind
I want to move as freely as the wind blows
across the land. No destination or goal in mind,
no restriction. Just being and going
nowhere and everywhere at once.
I desire to jump over mountains,
skim the surface of churning seas.
Brush through the lacy boughs of pines and cedars
that bend with the touch.
Lift flocks of starlings, guide the shapes
of their whispered murmuration.
Dance through forests and offer a breath
of relief in the weight of a city’s summer heat.
I want to move as the wind—be the wind,
or maybe, in a similar way, with the freedom
of directionless and uncriticised motion
I just want to be.
