Life

Strange and peculiar, this journey we call life.
It ebbs and flows
like waves
on a beach,
taking
what she will
while leaving behind
her choosing.

How strange her mind,
her reasoning,
her timing.

And then there is you and I.

Are we to beg, plead with the waves of life?
Are we to find reason?
I think not.

It is of her mind
who she takes,
who she leaves behind.

Oh, how we reason and bargain
in this matrix of time.

Do we dare dance
in her depths,
splashing,
wading,
laughing?

Do we really know her well enough to do such things?

In a moment,
she refreshes.
In a second,
she chooses
who will dance and who will not.

Charmed, some are called
while others cursed?

But it is of her nature, is it not?
After all, she
did give birth
to us.

And so I will dance
for those who can not.

I will laugh,
I will play
in her goodness
and grace
for giving me today
and oh, how she refreshes.
