First Lake County CTA to Win Prestigious“CTA of the Year” Award

The Lake County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Michele Carson, Client Relations Manager at Strong Financial Network, has been named the “CTA of the Year” by the Tourism Ambassador Institute (TAI). TAI is an international organization that licenses and accredits over 30 local CTA Programs in 20 states. The Lake County CTAs have been delivering quality education to local residents that aspire to become advocates for Lake County.

The LCWCC Celebrates A Successful Year of Fundraising

Their philanthropic projects this year included donations to Tango Mike, a program that provides supplies and care packages to active military personnel deployed; Lake County Vet Connect; Sponsoring Survivorship, a program supporting Lake County residents battling breast cancer; Toys for Tots, Wreaths Across America providing wreaths at Hartley Cemetery; the local food bank and two scholarships to Lake County graduating seniors pursuing careers in the trades.

Lake County Campus of Woodland Community College to Host “Express Registration” – 6.3.23

If you’ve been thinking of taking college classes, learning English or completing your high school diploma or equivalency, this is your opportunity! We will provide application assistance, financial aid support and academic counseling during this event. Clear Lake Soroptimists Award $3,500 to Local Women

Live Your Dream Awards help women who have faced economic and personal hardships to achieve their educational, vocational, and career goals. Two awards were presented to Kailyn Profitt ($2,000) and Corrie Cole ($1,000).  In addition, Justine Schneider, a nursing student, received a community award of $500.

Summer Reading with Your Library Starts June 1st

Get ready for the Lake County Library’s exciting summer reading challenge, starting on Thursday, June 1st. This year’s theme invites all to “Find Your Voice!” By participating in the library’s summer reading program, children, teens, and adults have a chance to win prizes, ranging from stickers and small toys for kids to a Kindle Fire tablet or local business gift cards.

Redwood Credit Union Offers Free Shred-a-Thon in Lake County – 5.10.23

Redwood Credit Union invites the local community to securely shred old financial statements and other sensitive documents at its annual Lake County Shred-a-Thon. The event will be held at Lower Lake High School, 9430 Lake Street, on Saturday, June 10, 2023, from 9 a.m. to noon. It will feature free document shredding provided by Shred-It and electronic waste (e-waste) collection by Conservation Corps North Bay.

Middletown Pool Season Opening 2023

The Lake County Public Services Department is excited to announce that the Middletown Pool, located at 20962 Big Canyon Rd., will open on May 27, 2023. The hours of operation will be noon to 5:00 pm, Wednesday through Sunday.

The Catfish Derby – It’s A Family Tradition

The 39th Annual Catfish Derby drew 958 anglers – children and adults – this past weekend for the 3-day event in Clearlake Oaks, a small-town community of about 2,200 residents. Many brought along their immediate and extended families and friends and most came in from outside of Lake County.

Lake County Trail Plan Revision Update at Sierra Club Lake Group’s Community Forum

The Sierra Club Lake Group will host Lake County Community Services Director, Lars Ewing, at their next community meeting on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at 6:00 PM. The discussion will be held via Zoom video conference and live-streamed on Facebook. The meeting is free and open to the public. Pre-registration is required to attend via Zoom.

Pacific Union College and Adventist Health Expand Nursing Program to Lake and Mendocino Counties

Pacific Union College and Adventist Health have announced a new partnership to better serve rural communities in Central and Northern California, including in Lake and Mendocino counties. This collaboration will further the college’s goals of growing its nursing program and help meet the rising need for highly qualified healthcare professionals in these areas.

It seems appropriate as I open a fine bottle of 2 Buck Chuck Cab Sauv to remind you that this weekend, both Saturday and Sunday, the Lake County Winery Association will sponsor its annual Lake County Wine Adventures. Never heard of it? It’s only one of the biggest and most fun events in The LC, dudes! It’s sorta like a pub crawl or a bar hop, only it’s hosted by many of our local wineries. There are charter buses, limousines and other modes of transport available for the revelers, and many of these wineries have live music! WOOHOO!! Simply look up Wine Adventure 2023, then click “Visit Website” to get a list of participating wineries – then get on the horn and ask your listed favorite if someone’s playing there. Pianists Combine Talent to Benefit Education and the Arts

The Soper Reese Theatre welcomes the return of the popular Pianists Benefit Concert after a three-year hiatus imposed by the pandemic. The performance on Sunday, May 21, will feature six professional pianists combining their diverse musical styles to raise funds for the theatre’s Renovation Fund and scholarship programs of the Lake County Friends of Mendocino College.
