Shade Canyon School will present its vision for continued educational excellence at its official charter renewal public hearing on Tuesday, September 15, at 6:00 p.m. The hearing will take place at the Kelseyville Unified School District (KVUSD) Dr. Peter J. Quartarolo Building, located at 4410 Konocti Road.
Members of the local press, community supporters, and families are invited to attend as school leaders, teachers, parents, and student representatives share with the KVUSD Board the school’s progress in its first three years and its plans for the future. The public hearing is part of Shade Canyon’s petition to be approved for a second charter term. As charter schools are independently run but publicly funded, Shade Canyon depends on its collaborative relationship with its authorizer, KVUSD, via regular charter renewals, to continue to offer a tuition-free, expanded educational option for
Lake County students.
A strong contingent of supporters wearing Shade Canyon’s school colors (blue and green) will gather to demonstrate public support for the tuition-free public charter school. “This renewal hearing is both an official milestone and a celebration of what our community has built together,” said Tim de la Torre, Administrator. “Our designated student, parent, and staff speakers will share the tangible impact Shade Canyon has made on our students’ lives, and we welcome local media and community members to witness firsthand the heart of our school.”
