Every Beat Counts Benefit Show to Bring Latest Cardiac Technology to Lake County: 11.02.23

The Community Economic Resilience Fund (CERF) is a state-wide program to promote a sustainable and equitable recovery from the economic distress of COVID-19. Library Literacy Program Hosts Final Tutor Training for 2023

Lake County, Calif. (September 15, 2023) — The Lake County Library’s Literacy Program has scheduled an in-person, no-cost New Tutor Training for Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at the Lakeport Library located at 1425 N. High Street in Lakeport. The training will take place from 11 am to 4 pm. Light snacks and refreshments, and training materials will be provided.

Born to Breathe Celebrates 2023 Youth Media Festival

In the early morning coolness of a Friday in May, vehicles filled with young artists from the North Coast region began their trek to the Born to Breathe 2023 Youth Media Festival at the Benbow KOA, just south of Garberville in Humboldt County. It was the second festival in two years, but the first in-person, and NorCal 4 Health staff worked diligently to make the event extra special and accessible to all participants.

Lake County Winegrape Commission Announces Launch of Lake County Pruning School Registration Year Two

The Lake County Winegrape Commission announces the highly anticipated launch of the second year of Lake County Pruning School, which will begin December 2023.

The immersive training program will again be delivered in collaboration with Simonit & Sirch, the renowned grapevine pruning school with more than 30 years of research and experience and a client list that includes some of the world’s preeminent vineyards in the United States and Europe, including the recently announced Domaine de la Romanée-Conti.

Pomo Basket Design Panel Happening at Twin Pine

The Middletown Art Center is thrilled to announce the commencement of Water Basket which opens with a Pomo Basket Design Panel Discussion at Twin Pine Sunday, September 17, 2-3:30pm. Featured artists and culture bearers include Millie Simon, Wanda Quitiquit, Eric Wilder, Patty Ray-Franklin, Corine Pearce, Meyo Marrufo, and Buffy Thomas, with an introduction from Moke Simon. Lake County Department of Water Resources Reports on Projects at Next Sierra Club Lake Group Community Forum

The Sierra Club Lake Group will host Jordan Beaton and Angela DePalma-Dow of the Lake County Water Resources Department. The Lake County Department of Water Resources exists to promote both an environmentally and economically sustainable watershed and is tasked with providing services ranging from lakebed management to groundwater monitoring and stormwater management. They will provide updates and field questions on various projects under their purview.

Redwood Credit Union Protects 3,300+ Individuals by Securely Shredding Documents and Responsibly Disposing of e-Waste

This summer, more than 3,300 residents across Lake, Marin, Mendocino, Napa, and Sonoma counties took a proactive stance against fraud and identity theft. Shred-It trucks were onsite at each event to help communities safely dispose of and recycle 134,940 lbs. of documents. And Conservation Corps of the North Bay collected more than 35,775 lbs. of e-waste, including old TVs, printers, monitors, computers, and other personal electronics for secure recycling.

Annual Veterans Stand Down: 9.20-21.2023

Lake County Vet Connect members will host the annual Veterans Stand Down, an outreach event for local veterans and active military personnel who will benefit from connecting with community and Veterans resources Scheduled for Sept. 20 and 21, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. each day, the event will be at the Lake County Fairgrounds, 401 Martin Street. Veterans must provide their ID cards or DD Forms 214. Lake Transit will provide veterans free rides to the Stand Down. Lunch will be served by Vet Connect volunteers.

Local Author Visits Lake County Libraries

Local author and life coach Mimi Whittaker is shining a light on the extraordinary citizens of Lake County in her new book, “Lake County Diamonds: Ten Remarkable People from Lake County, CA.” Whittaker will visit several branches of the Lake County Library to read a short excerpt from Lake County Diamonds and sign copies of her book.
