Dear Jordan,

It’s me, Jordan. You’re two days away from being 35. Can you believe that? You never thought

you’d make this far.

Life has been quite a bumpy ride. You graduated college, you never thought you’d do that. You were diagnosed with bipolar, that one was a given. You know that disease would finally make its way to you, but it hasn’t killed you. You dream of being a writer still, but now you have a book! You teach writing classes!

The hardest hurdle has been loving yourself. You tend to look at your eyes as a gauge of how you’re doing. Recently, they have lost their light. Their sense of purpose and drive. You know what you want and how to get there, but you’re stuck. Stuck in dumb fear, people’s perceptions, and overall doubt.

You need to get out of this muck.

Say no and don’t feel guilty.

Own your shit.

No one hates you. If they do, that’s just their perception. Not really you are.

Speaking of perceptions and validation, why do they matter? Why are you always calling for attention? What even brings that on?

Calm that anxiety. Turn those ‘what if’s’ to ‘what now’?

Breathe. You can do this.

You know what to do.

I love you. It’s going to be a good year.
