Lake County Music Guide – 2.6.24

I was driving from Clearlake to Upper Lake Sunday evening, and I noticed the lake’s water level was getting ever so close to the highway level. Big time, wowza! My car has all-wheel drive, and it still was hydroplaning a little bit. Thankfully, the worst is over, and the really bad rainy/windy days are alternating throughout the next week. Be careful out there, folks. Here’s the live music guide for the week of 2/6 through 2/12…

The week always starts on Tuesday, hence, the new official first day of the week. And that brings us to Kelsey Creek Brewing in K’ville where fine handcrafted beers, ales and seltzers flow, many with funny names, while the acoustic collaboration of Buskin’ for Brewskis fills the air with song from 3 to 6:00. Way too much fun to miss out on…

Let’s get ready to Piano-rama! on Wednesday at the Hopland Tap ‘n’ Grill, where the queen of Boogie Woogie – Wendy DeWitt, bangs the box from 4 to 6:00. Expect brews, wines, and spirits to be flowing along with a pretty decent menu. If you don’t yet have restless leg syndrome, you will after this event…

On Thursday over at the Catfish Coffee House in Clearlake, there’s gonna be an Open Mic with Chris Grant starting at 7:00. There will be coffee drinks and snacks, plus a whole lotta talent. Come to listen, come to play, come for the coffee (is there really a catfish-flavored coffee?) …

On Friday evening out at Grillagans Island in Lakeport, you can enjoy a bowl of soup with a gourmet grilled cheese sandwich while listening to Margo and Friends starting at 5:00. It seems to be the perfect time for some hot soup, know what I mean?

Back in Kelseyville on Friday evening at the Smiling Dogs Tasting Room from 6:30 to 9:30 you’re gonna be in for a treat when Manring, Culbertson and Alegria show off their extensive talents – especially Culbertson, who plays the Chapman Stick, a really mind-blowing stringed instrument. You gotta see it to believe it. Enjoy some of the SDR wines while you’re at it. It’s all good…

In the South County over at Twin Pine Casino in Middletown, where I once won $2300 on a slot machine, it could be your lucky night, or else you can just go dance to the Kirk Basquez Band on both Friday and Saturday from 9 to 1:AM. I really used to like it when you could hear the coins dropping into the loud metal tray. Now, that’s excitement!

On Friday, you can enjoy a Valentine’s Day Steak Dinner at the Moose Lodge in Clearlake Oaks while listening to Fiddler and Marsha starting at 4:30. All this and more for only $25. There’ll be libations at the full bar to wash down your steak dinner – SALUTE!

O’Meara Bros Brewing in Lakeport always provides an excellent menu plus some fine handcrafted beers and ales, but this Saturday, get ready for the greatness of Austin and Owens from 6 to 9:00. Come find out why the O’Bros and A&O always make this the perfect Date Night location.

The Riviera Hills Lounge over in the Riviera on Saturday are happy to bring back, by popular demand, the rockin’ fun music of the Fargo Bros from 6 to 10:00. Get there early, grab a table, have a meal and a coupla drinks, then get ready to have fun…

Back in Lakeport, the Soper Reese Theater will host a Mardi Pardi, (Mardi Gras Party) starting at 7:00 and featuring the Funky Dozen. There will be an optional Mardi Gras March starting at Museum Park at 5:30 that works its way over to the theater – music starts at 7:00. Cost is $30, less if under 17. Come in traditional costumes and have a ball!

Konocti Valley Casino in Lakeport on Saturday will host a Comedy Night featuring Rick Esquieta and Rafael Molina starting at 7:00. Cost is $20, but who really puts a price on yuks? Right?

Take a step up to the mountain where on Saturday at the Loch Lomand Roadhouse you can find James White strummin’ some Blues and Country starting at 7:00. Great menu here, plus a full bar, and you’d be amazed just how good this guy is! But don’t take my word for it – go see for yourselves…

Over at Richmond Park in the bayside Riviarea on Saturday, enjoy a meal, libations from a full bar, then get ready to dance because the featured musician will be Howard Reggie Dockens from 7 to 11:00. It’s a party here every weekend…

On Saturday over at Andre’s Lounge over in Lakeport, the strum and sing will be provided by none other than Bill Vanderwall from 8 to 11:00. This guy’s pretty good. Drop by for a nightcap after the Mardi Pardi is over. Come see what Andre’s done with the place…

The Blue Wing Saloon is good for 6 gigs in 5 days, starting with Friday when the Majide Trio take you back to yesteryear with popular songs from another era – all from 6 to 8:00. Then on Saturday evening from 6 to 8:00, balladeer Chris Forshay will keep you entranced for your dining pleasure. Sunday Brunch brings you a special breakfast menu from 11:30 to 2:PM that pairs perfectly with the music of the Back Porch Trio. Later that evening Sunday Supper will be made that much better with the music of the lovely Hilarie Wilt from 6 to 8:00. For the Blues afficionados Monday Blues will be a special treat because Rebecca Roundman and Dirty Cello will romp through the 1,4,5 from 6 to 8:00. And to wrap things up, the 2-Course Tuesday $25 Supper just wouldn’t be as good without Paul Kemp tinkling the ivories from 6 to 8:00. Reservations for all events are strongly recommended…

There’s a big event benefitting the Willits Little Lake Grange Hall presenting “Carnival II” featuring SambaDa, a joyous blend of Samba, Funk, and Reggae to help celebrate Carnaval on Saturday starting at 7:00. Opening the show will be Rising Signs. Tix are $20 in advance, $25 at the door – Eventbrite. There should be libations available at a no-host bar. Samba ‘til you drop!…
