Lake County Music Guide – 3.19.24

Hoowee! Loving this weather! Spent most of yesterday and today pulling weeds, turning the soil and getting red in the face. I’d like it to be this way forever – I know we can use more rain, but let it rain from midnight to 4 AM. Who’s with me?!? Whew, glad I got that off my chest. Anyway, here’s the live music guide for the week of 3/19 through 3/25…

It wouldn’t be Tuesday if there wasn’t Buskin’ for Brewskis strummin’ acoustics and singing at Kelsey Creek Brewing in K’ville while excellent handcrafted beers, ales and seltzers flowed – all from 3 to 6:00. I can only think of a couple things that sound more fun to do on a Tuesday afternoon…

Speakin’ of Tuesday evening, the Clear Lake Grange Hall in Finley has a special treat in store for you all when the Fargo Bros rock the hall from 6:00 to 9:00. As always, we all can contribute to the casual pot-luck type meal with BYO-Bevs and good vibes. A $10 donation will be accepted at the door to pay the band. Sound will be provided by B.U.D.

On Wednesday at the Moose Lodge in Clearlake Oaks there will be a special Veterans Dinner featuring the music of Steven Murray starting at 5:30, (call to confirm). Cost will be $10 and it’s open to Moosies and non-Moosies alike…

In the center of the Lake County musical universe, Kelseyville, the Saw Shop Public House lives up to its reputation when on Thursday evening when the Hip Replacements rock the backyard from 6 to 9:00. Come enjoy something yummy from the Saw Mill Snak Wagon, wash it down with libations from a full bar, then let the Hip Reps rock your world. On Friday evening get ready for some real fun when the Fargo Bros bring the party and ROCK to you from 6 to 9:00. Then on Saturday evening, just in case something groovy is what you’re jonesin’ for, Groovy Judy will be there spreading the love and Rock from 6 to 9:00. One can’t really get too much groovy. Once again Boatique Winery in the Kelseyville area and Lake County Theater Company will feature 3 more showings of the play, “Steel Magnolias” on Friday and Saturday at 7:00 and on Sunday at 4:00. Twin Pine Casino in Middletown has slots, cards, wheels, and Tommy Peacock, who plays classical rock and country music on Fridays and Saturdays from 9 to 1: AM. Everybody’s a winnah!

On Saturday morning the Farmer’s Finest Farmers Market will offer fresh locally grown fruit and vegetables, plus an assortment of handcrafted items you can purchase just in time for your early Christmas shopping, plus the music of Phil ‘n’ the Blanks from 10:AM to 1:PM. And, of course, there will be food vendors selling yummy foods and the winery tasting room opens about 11: AM, so you can also stock up on your favorite whites, pinks and reds. And wrapping up the Lake County music scene is the Blue Wing Saloon in Upper Lake which always has 6 music events in 5 days, starting with Friday when the Majide Trio brings you Torch Ballads, Blues Classics and other wonderful songs from a bygone era of music – all from 6 to 8:00. Then on Saturday evening from 6 to 8:00, Americana multi-instrumentalist Wolf Tree will strum and sing for your dining pleasure. Sunday Brunch will feature the wonderful music of the Twining Time Duo from 11:30 to 2:00. Later that Sunday evening Chris Forshay will entertain the diners with many favorites from 6 to 8:00. For the Monday Blues Series, the Strictly Hardly Blues will lay down the low down from 6 to 8:00. And last but not least, the 2-Course Tuesday $25 Supper, (you get an special entrée with any side, or any other meal on the regular menu) – from, you guessed it, 6 to 8:00. Mendocino County
At Coyote Valley Casino everybody’s fave the Fargo Bros will be rockin’ out Saturday night starting at 8:00. This place is pretty impressive, and the slots tend to be hot when there’s a hot band, and it’s only a hop, skip and jump to Redwood Valley. Just sayin’!…

For those of you who have Netflix, if you’re looking for a really fun feel-good movie, I recommend “The Bank Of Dave”. Watched it, loved it! So whether you’re out this week to enjoy the bounty of live music The LC has to offer, or just kickin’ back and taking in a good vid, have fun – but please be safe…

Mike has been playing professionally, both acoustic and electric, for 40+ years. He paid his dues in a robust Sonoma County music scene during the '80s and '90s, then DJ'd for 10 years after moving to Lake County in 1996. After retiring from his job of 26 years, because he recognized a growing local music scene, he decided to devote his time to playing live music again. He's never looked back. Along with his regular band, Dr. Groove, he has filled in on lead guitar for local bands, (Fargo Bros, Blues Farm, C.A.M. Band, Borrowed Time, Time Travelers). He's played acoustic guitar at a some of our local wineries, restaurants, farmers Markets and art galleries. He's also a semi-regular supporting various local Open Mics around Lake County. He writes and records original songs and has recorded original demos for other performers as well. For the last three years, he has posted on Facebook a local music guide called the Lake County Music Guide.
