Lake County Music Guide – 5.23.23

Holy Toledo, Andy! It’s Memorial Weekend and it’s on! Good thing I woke up early this morning, there’s a lot to cover – starting with Bottlerock 2023 in Napa County. Among the artists in the line-up are Duran Duran, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lil NAS X, Smashing Pumpkins and Moonalice, (more on Moonalice later…). Locally you’re gonna find Lower Lake Daze, a great fun family event showcasing the Southeast County. Of course, if you plan on going camping it’s probably gonna rain on us all, so I suggest you all stay home and enjoy all the bounty of live music this county has to offer this week. Hoowee! Here’s the music schedule for the week of 5/23 to 5/29…

If it’s Tuesday, you already know what’s significant about that day – right?. Yup! What else is there to do on a Tuesday afternoon?…

The Hopland Tap, a venue where beer, music, food and fun times happen all week, continues to bring one of the best weekly jam sessions in the NorCal when the Blues Invitational Jam happens on Wednesday from 7 to 10:00. You won’t be able to sit still when the house band does its thing, but with the addition of a brand name Bay Area Blues artist, they sometimes blow the roof off. Go see for yourself…

On Thursday at the Saw Shop Public House in Kelseyville, along with an excellent menu and a full bar, they will present the music The Hip Replacements (cool name, b.t.w…), from 6 to 9:00. This family-friendly event happening on Sunday from 10: AM to 3:00 has been a Lake County favorite for as long as I can remember. This year they will feature a local band, Time Travelers starting at 1:00. There’s another band but I can’t find any info on that. Just make it a daylong event. Eat, revel and dance. Works for me…

Mike Guarniero

Mike has been playing professionally, both acoustic and electric, for 40+ years. He paid his dues in a robust Sonoma County music scene during the '80s and '90s, then DJ'd for 10 years after moving to Lake County in 1996. Along with his regular band, Dr. Groove, he has filled in on lead guitar for local bands, (Fargo Bros, Blues Farm, C.A.M. Band, Borrowed Time, Time Travelers). He's played acoustic guitar at a some of our local wineries, restaurants, farmers Markets and art galleries. He's also a semi-regular supporting various local Open Mics around Lake County.
