Tuesday is National Teacher’s Day, and what better way to celebrate this momentous occasion than to drop by Kelsey Creek Brewing in K’ville where their fine handcrafted and teacher approved beers, ales and seltzers pair up perfectly with the acoustic music of Buskin for Brewskis from 3 to 6:00. It’s opening Day for the Midweek Farmer’s Finest Farmers Market on Tuesday at the gazebo in Library Park in Lakeport where you’ll find fresh locally grown fruit and vegetables plus many hand-crafted items you’ve just gotta buy. Plus you can hear the music of Dennis Purcell, all from 10:AM to 1:00.

The Moose Lodge in Clearlake Oaks on Wednesday will feature the fantastic Wimpy Burger with musical accompaniment from Tony Neves from 5:30 to 7:00.

Down in the bayside Riviarea, Richmond Park Bar ‘n’ Grill will feature music from Margo and Friends on Wednesday starting at 6:00. Then on Sunday get ready to RAWK when Still Kick’n takes the stage from 2 to 6:00. Hot food and a full bar and live music – a rockin’ good time!

Andre’s Lounge in Lakeport offers excellent brews and wines, a comfy atmosphere and live music. On Wednesday come check out pianist and composer Nicky Hinds from 7 to 9:00. Then on Friday evening Andre and Friends will be singing soul music and R&B from 7 to 11:00. And if you stop by on Saturday you can get your fill of “Dad Rock” when Bill Vanderwall strums and sings his way into your hearts from 7 to 11:00. Come see what Andre’s done with the place…

Out in the center of the universe, the Saw Shop Public House in Kelseyville has some good stuff for you, starting with Thursday when Beatz Werkin’ takes the stage and rocks the Backyard from 6 to 9, Dudes! Then it’s gonna be a Fargo Friday when the Bros do their thing, with a little help from sax savant Nancy Wright, all from 6 to 9:00. And for something different, guitarist/singer J Bird will amaze you with his techno know-how on Saturday evening from 6 to 9:00. Order a meal from the Sawmill Snak Wagon right there in the Backyard or else from the regular menu – plus enjoy a libation or two from a full bar. Say hi to Weston while you’re there!…

The Catfish Coffee House in Clearlake and Chris Grant will host an Open Mic starting at 7:00 on Thursday evening. Great talent in Clearlake, and open to all performers. Snacks and coffee drinks will be available.

The Middletown Farmers Market is back at it again on Friday from 4:30 to 8:30, where you can stock up on fresh locally grown fruit and vegetables, plus an assortment of hand-crafted items you just can’t live without. There will also be food vendors in case you get hungry, and most importantly, live music will be provided by Garrison.

Back in Kelseyville the Smiling Dogs Tasting Room on Main Street is happy to present Margo & Friends on Friday from 6:30 to 9:30. SDR wines will be sold by the bottle or glass, plus there’s lots of cool art and SDR merch for sale. Very cozy here…

Take a step up to the mountain where at the Loch Lomand Roadhouse you’ll find on Friday a master at his craft, Colby Lee strummin’ an’ a singin’ starting at 7:00. This guy is really good, folks. And speaking of masters, the unbelievably good Austin and Owens will be doing their Neo-Classical acoustic thing on Saturday starting at 7:00. In Middletown at the Twin Pine Casino, the band Rebel the Bay will be rockin’ the house both Friday and Saturday nights from 9 to 1:AM. Could be your lucky night…

Just in case you happen to be in the general vicinity of Ketchikan, Alaska on Friday and Sunday evenings, local dudes, Dave Broida and Larry “Mojo” Platz will join up with former bandmate Sue Hill at the Hole in the Wall Bar with a reunion of the original Blues Farm. What fun, what memories…

On Saturday morning from 10:AM to 1:00, the Farmer’s Finest Farmers Market will be in full swing at the Mercantile Tasting Room in Finley where you can find fresh locally grown fruit and vegetables, plus an assortment of hand-crafted items you just can’t live without. There will also be food vendors in case you get hungry, and most importantly, live music will be provided by me, Mike Guarniero. And since the tasting room opens at 11:AM, sample wines by the bottle or glass, then you can stock up on your faves. It’s like a one-stop-shop here at the FFFM…

Up in the Riviarea, the Riviera Hills Lounge will feature the Fargo Bros with guest sax master Nancy Wright on Saturday evening from 6 to 10:00. Catch the wonderful sunset views, have a meal/a couple cocktails, then rock away to Nancy and the Boys. Might even be nice enough to be outside, just sayin’…

Yep, they are still open! The Konocti Harbor Resort in the Buckingham area will host a Comedy Night featuring the Bern Man, Jake Bernie plus Kabir Singh starting at 6:00. Tix will be $25-30. Please call for more info. Be prepared to laugh!…

On Sunday afternoon, the Shannon Ridge Mercantile in Finley will host a Mother’s Day special event featuring the awesome Austin and Owens from 1 to 3:00. And nothing says “Mom” better than A&O and good wine. Salute!…

The Soper-Reese Theater in Lakeport will have a Mother’s Day treat for you when the Lake County Orchestra, with John Parkinson conducting and featuring vocalist Cynthia Rose, performs “A Mother’s Day Pops Concert” on Sunday at 2:00. They will be playing a tribute to the Golden Age of American Popular Music. Cost will be $25-30. There will also be a rehearsal showing at 11:AM which will only cost $5. Happy Mother’s Day indeed! On Sunday in that nice little town of Nice the Boathouse Bar/Stowaway Grill is delighted to bring you the Fargo Bros featuring the incomparable Nancy Wright on Sax. Great food, friendly wait staff and rockin good music – definitely the best place to round out your weekend…

And last but not least, the Blue Wing Saloon in Upper Lake will bring you 6 musical acts in 5 days, starting with Friday when the Majide Trio bring you back to a simpler time of Bossa Nova, Blues Standards and Jazz, all this and more from 6 to 8:00. Then on Saturday evening the dynamic duo of Paula Samonte and Paul Kemp will thrill your very soul from 6 to 8:00. For their Sunday Brunch, there will be a special breakfast menu with music from the exceptional guitarist, Jules Leyhe from 11:30 to 2:00. Then later on Sunday evening from 6 to 8:00, expect more from Jules and the Family Jules with guest sax player, Nancy Wright, (I think I’ve heard of her…). This should be a night to remember. For their Monday Blues Series, come get behind Nancy Wright’s Rhythm and Roots Band from 6 to 8:00. And then, wrapping it all up will be the 2-Course Tuesday – $25 Supper Special which features famous musician Paul Kemp from 6 to 8:00. Reservations are suggested for any and all shows.

Mike Guarniero

Mike has been playing professionally, both acoustic and electric, for 40+ years. He paid his dues in a robust Sonoma County music scene during the '80s and '90s, then DJ'd for 10 years after moving to Lake County in 1996. After retiring from his job of 26 years, because he recognized a growing local music scene, he decided to devote his time to playing live music again. He's never looked back. Along with his regular band, Dr. Groove, he has filled in on lead guitar for local bands, (Fargo Bros, Blues Farm, C.A.M. Band, Borrowed Time, Time Travelers). He's played acoustic guitar at a some of our local wineries, restaurants, farmers Markets and art galleries. He's also a semi-regular supporting various local Open Mics around Lake County. He writes and records original songs and has recorded original demos for other performers as well. For the last three years, he has posted on Facebook a local music guide called the Lake County Music Guide.
