On Monday, December 12, 2022, the Lake County Wine Alliance, along with this year’s Wine Auction Sponsors, distributed $300,000 to 40 community organizations representing education, arts, health, and community. The check distribution event was held at Bell Haven Flower Farm and attended by the wine alliance board members, sponsors, and representatives from all 40 organizations. It was a lively and festive evening.
The Lake County Wine Alliance is a cooperative composed of Lake County wineries, winegrape growers, vineyard owners, related businesses, and community supporters. Formed in 2000, the Lake County Wine Alliance is a nonprofit organization operating under the guidance of a six-member volunteer board of directors with the purpose of supporting charitable and other local programs in the arts, health, and community.
Since its inception, the Lake County Wine Alliance has contributed over $2 million. Monies raised yearly through the annual Lake County Wine Auction are awarded to worthy programs in Lake County, donating more funds to local charities from a single event than any other local nonprofit organization.
The 2023 Wine Auction was held at The Mercantile by Shannon Family of Wine on September 17th. More than 300 people attended the reception and dinner, participating in raising the paddle and the live auction raising $200,000. The online silent auction and sponsorships secured the remaining dollars, ensuring that all monies raised went to our local beneficiaries.
