My Divas are looking for new members. This professional women’s acapella vocal group has been delighting audiences in Lake County and beyond since 2011 with a repertoire that boasts “music of the ages” from Renaissance period pieces and Victorian-style Christmas carols to modern jazz and doo-wop. The group recently decided to expand its number from 6 to 8 women.
“We are thrilled to announce this rare opportunity for local female vocalists,” reports Barbara Clark, the group’s Booking Manager. “We are looking to broaden our repertoire and welcome fresh new talent into our group! A new soprano and a tenor/bass will open up doors to new possibilities, as well as allow us greater flexibility in rehearsing and scheduling.”
Auditions will be held on Thursday, June 15th, at the Lake County Arts Council’s Main Street Gallery located at 325 N. Main Street in Lakeport from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Auditioners should arrive prepared to sing a song of their choice without accompaniment that highlights their range for the part they wish to be considered for (either soprano or tenor/bass). They will also be provided with an excerpt of sheet music of a song from the group’s repertoire to learn as a group that evening. They will then be asked to sing with members of My Divas to test vocal blend and ability to learn music.
The group rehearses most Thursday evenings at various locations.
