The Clear Lake Environmental Research Center (CLERC) has begun mailing Right of Entry (ROE) forms to property owners located within planned wildfire mitigation project areas throughout Lake County and surrounding communities.
These projects include defensible space treatments, roadside vegetation clearing, and strategic fuel break development to reduce wildfire risk, improve community safety, and support healthier forest conditions.
Property owners who wish to determine whether their property is included in an upcoming project can visit: https://www.theclerc.org/right-of-entry
The webpage includes:
• An interactive map of all planned project areas
• Information about each project type
• A secure online Right of Entry form that can be completed electronically
In addition to the online option, mailed packets will include:
• A paper Right of Entry form
• A prepaid business reply envelope for convenient return by mail
Completed paper forms may also be returned via email to documents@theclerc.org or via US Mail to P.O. Box 636, Lakeport, CA 95453.
Submitting a signed Right of Entry form does not transfer ownership of property and simply authorizes CLERC and its project partners to conduct approved vegetation management work on the property as part of these community wildfire resilience efforts.
“We encourage property owners to review the project maps and respond promptly if their property falls within one of the planned treatment areas,” said Will Evans, CLERC’s Executive Director and Co-Founder. “These projects are an important step toward reducing wildfire hazards and protecting our communities.”
While CLERC welcomes community interest in future wildfire mitigation efforts, current projects are limited to specific treatment areas based on available funding, project design, and environmental planning requirements.
