Pay It Forward – Sexton’s Detailing & Wash

I am happy to present to you our twenty-seventh local business spotlighted in the Pay it Forward feature – Sexton’s Detailing and Wash.

Our recent Lake County business featured was Saucy Bowls and Juice, and owners Kristen Miller & Haley Teter chose to Pay it Forward to Sexton’s Detailing and Wash.

The catch is that I will not choose the next business to interview, but the current spotlighted business will choose who I will interview next. Local businesses will Pay it Forward.

Sexton’s Detailing & Wash is locally owned and operated by Travis Sexton and is one of the largest full-service facilities offering everything from basic car washes to full details. He offers high-quality hand washing and interior detailing and can also accommodate large vehicles, such as RVs and boats.

Sexton’s is fully licensed and insured, using only professional products from P&S and commercial equipment. All quality work is done behind a secured gated facility, allowing customers to leave their vehicles and boats. etc. overnight if needed. They also provide gift certificates for that special someone. Spring is around the corner; call or message them for a quote.

1. Why did you decide to start your own business?

I’ve always been an entrepreneur and never really enjoyed working for other people. I like to make my own schedule and be my own boss.

2. What advice would you give to someone just starting their own business?

Social Media Marketing and community outreach and involvement is vital to a business these days. Focus on yourself and stay in your own lane and you will be successful.

3. What routines do you follow each day?

I am always very consistent with my business hours. We are open Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5pm, and even take appointments sometimes on the weekends. I make it a priority to be timely and show up for my customers as my best self.

4. Where do you see your business in five years? Ten?

I really want to expand. Right now, it is just me, and I want to be able to employ local people and I want to be able to offer more “express” style services and be able to service multiple vehicles at a time. I would also like to purchase my building within the next 10 years.

5. How did you market your business when it was brand new?

At first, we used Instagram, but now we mostly use Facebook. We try and support local fundraisers and donate to local places, such as the hospital, to get the word out.

6. If you could spend the day with anyone (living or who has passed on) who would it be and why?

I would spend the day with my family. They are the most important people in my life.
