Outdoor Bake Sale with the Ukiah Branch Library
The Ukiah Branch Library invites all children and young adults aged 5 to 17 to join us in our 37th year of hosting the Kids’ Farmer’s Market! This annual summer bake sale is designed as a learning opportunity for young farmers and entrepreneurs to learn the skills of sales and bartering, cash-based math, design, gardening, and display with the intention of creating,
growing, marketing, and selling handmade and/or homegrown products. All items for sale must be handmade, in whole or in part, by the children.
This year’s market will be held on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to noon, starting on June 17, and vendors will set up their stations on the grassy areas of Alex Thomas Plaza. Vendor parking is available in the parking lot behind the Conference Center. Set-up is from 9 to 10 a.m. Vendors may not set up before 9 a.m. The final market of the season will be on Wednesday, August 5.
There is no limit to the number of participants, and while families are encouraged to participate, children are expected to manage their own vendor stations. Children under age 12 must always be accompanied by an adult. Please note that the market will be canceled on days when the temperature exceeds 95 degrees Fahrenheit during market hours.

Bilingual Storytime!
With the Ukiah Branch Library
The Ukiah Branch Library invites families with children of all ages to attend our newest weekly Storytime every Saturday at 11 a.m., starting July 18. This bilingual English/Spanish Storytime will introduce young learners to the most important basics of early literacy, including reading, talking, singing, and playing. Join us for half an hour of songs, books, rhymes, and of course, wiggles, followed by time for bubbles and play for kids and caregivers alike. Come check it out!

LOBA POETRY SERIES
Monthly Poet Features & Open Mic
Join Ukiah Branch Library staff as we host poetry events in-person on the third Saturdays of each month at 3 p.m. This free event is open to both teens and adults. All are invited to share poems in any form or style, or just listen to others. On Saturday, July 18, we welcome Carrie Hunter.
Hunter received her MFA/MA in the Poetics program at New College of California, was in the Black Radish Books publishing collective, and edited the chapbook press, Ypolita Press. Her most recent full-length collection of poems is “The Flow of the Poem’s Display of Itself” (Roof Books, 2025). She also has books out with Nightboat and Black Radish Books. Her latest chapbook is “Eva (not Eve)”, which came out with Antiphony in early 2026. She lives in San Francisco and teaches ESL.

CONSERVATION AMBASSADORS’ WILD THINGS
Animals of the World at the Ukiah Library
This year’s summer reading program is coming to an end, and what better way to celebrate than by meeting rescued animals? Join the Ukiah Branch Library in welcoming some of the animals from Conservation Ambassadors’ Wild Things on Friday, August 7, at 10:30 a.m. This fun program will teach attendees about a variety of amazing animals that can be found roaming our
beautiful planet, as well as how we can help keep them safe.

PRODUCE & PANTRY SHARE
Free Food at the Ukiah Library
The Yokayo Seed Project is hosting our annual Produce & Pantry Share series this fall. Bring your surplus homegrown produce or non-perishable pantry goods to share. Prevent food waste and feed the community!
Here’s how it works: Community members bring their surplus homegrown produce or non-perishable, non-expired, unopened pantry items to the Ukiah Library. Everyone is invited to visit the library during the event to pick up the free produce and food to take home.
These events will take place on the following dates from 2 to 4 p.m.: August 29, September 26, and October 24.
