Wine Meets Literary Arts at Wine in the Willows

Lake County writers and fans of the literary arts now have two new events to enjoy in Lakeport. A local wine bar is hosting monthly poetry readings and writers’ workshops.

Lake County Poet Laureate 2020-2024 Georgina Marie Guardado and Wine in the Willows’ owner Cinamon Vann teamed up to begin Poetry Night at the wine bar in December 2023. Poetry Night continues on the last Wednesday of each month from 6-8 pm with new featured poets each month and an open mic to follow.

Vann was also the founder of the Sacramento chapter of Shut Up & Write!, one of many chapters of the large, thriving writing community offering support for writers internationally. Vann and Guardado debuted the new Lake County chapter of Shut Up & Write! in March. The event is hosted at the wine bar on the first Saturday of every month at 2 pm.Writers of all genres are welcome. The group starts with brief introductions, then sets a 1-hour timer when attendees then “Shut Up & Write!” After an hour of focused writing, the organizer calls time, and everyone briefly shares what they accomplished during the session.
